Promotion and protection human rights (social justice, fight against gender-based violence, child protection and child rights)
SD engages in community mobilization and awareness initiatives focused on human rights protection through various channels such as media, seminars, and public discussions. The organization offers human rights education in schools, covering topics like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Somalia’s provisional constitution. Additionally, it monitors and reports on human rights violations occurring in Somalia. SD also conducts advocacy campaigns aimed at influencing policies and laws related to national, regional, and international human rights treaties that Somalia has endorsed, including the child rights bill, disability act, and juvenile justice system. Furthermore, it provides capacity-building training for federal government institutions and police departments to enhance their ability to prevent and protect against human rights violations within communities, alongside public advocacy efforts addressing issues related to child imprisonment and youth in conflict with the law.
