Building the capacities of human rights defenders as well as human rights institutions plays an important role in approaches to human rights protection. SD capacity building programs are in line with its mandate of a region where all have access to justice through national, African and international human rights mechanisms. One of the critical challenges facing both human rights defenders and human rights organizations are the capacity to monitor, document and report human rights violations that are taking place at different regions in Somalia. To fill these gaps, SD will provide capacity building trainings to promote respect of human rights by supporting  and strengthening human rights protection institutions, civil society, individual activists, human rights defenders as well as the empowerment of the general community in Somalia.
